This Week's Counter: The Place To Be

After several prior (and unsuccessful) attempts to visit the counter here, we finally made it. This place, located right in the center of downtown Lakewood, is usually so busy that there's a wait for a table and the small counter is jammed.  This time, mid-morning on a Saturday, we were in luck. Even with three of us (Cam's friend Noah came along) we found seats.

Service was initially fast and friendly -- we had drinks and got our orders in right away.  Unfortunately, service got slower along the way.  Once we got our server's attention and got our orders in, it was a looooong time before we the food came out -- maybe about 40 minutes, not at all what you expect at a diner.

Fortunately the food was pretty good -- Cam went with his usual choice of chicken and fries, which was huge, and even came with a cup of chicken noodle soup. Ted went with the breakfast burrito special -- eggs, veggies, cheese, etc in a grilled tortilla -- which was so big it was tough to finish.  Coffee was pretty average.

This has got to be one of the most popular breakfast and lunch spots in Lakewood, and we're glad we finally made it to the counter there.  But if you go, try to avoid peak times as they seem to struggle to keep up with the crowd.

Cam says: "Food was above average, but service was a little below. I give it 5 frying pans."

Ted says: "Liked the diversity of the menu -- breakfast burrito was a great choice. A little too loud and busy.  5 frying pans for me too."
