This Week's Counter: Cleveland Corned Beef Company

We were out in Parma watching our nephew/cousin's basketball game and had somehow found out that the Cleveland Corned Beef Co., located nearby, serves breakfast and has a counter.  This place is a very narrow storefront in the shopping plaza at the corner of Brookpark and Pearl.  You would think it's just for takeout, but inside its got a very long counter (maybe 20 seats) plus a few small booths in the back.  As the name would suggest, it's mostly a deli and they do seem to focus on the lunchtime take-out business -- lots of corned beef being sliced for sandwiches.

Mid-morning on Saturday it wasn't too busy, so there were plenty of counter seats and service was quick and attentive.  The menu is surprisingly diverse for such a small and take-out focused place -- many choices for breakfast and tons of lunch options (besides deli sandwiches -- burgers, chicken, fish and more).  Ted got his typical breakfast -- eggs, potatoes and toast -- and Cam chose chicken tenders and fries.  While we waited we could watch the cook in action -- the griddle, fryers, etc were right across the counter from us. This was both good and bad, as the whole place, including the food prep area, were in need of some cleaning and refurbishment.

The food was a little on the slow side, but it was all fresh and hot.  And lots of it -- particularly Cam's chicken, which was 4 large pieces and a huge plate of fries.  The whole meal was $15 including tip -- tough to find value like that anymore.  If you don't care too much about aesthetics and want a solid and low-cost meal, it's a good place to go.  If you're a fan of corned beef, try the sandwiches -- they looked very good.

Cam says: "Average service with a calm atmosphere, great food quality.. Give it 8 frying pans."

Ted says: "This is my kind of place too -- no frills, very simple and friendly. Very good quality food, big portions, and dirt cheap. Worth 7 frying pans "
